Remember Your Leaders - Hebrews 13:7

Today, I have been pondering about all the men of God who led me as my pastor. This scripture came to mind: "Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith." There have been many Godly pastors that lead me well and a few not-so Godly pastors who haven't led me well in my Christian walk. The Godly ones are worth considering and worth imitating their faith even though I don't agree with all of their theological interpretations of scripture. They modeled what it means to follow and be faithful to Christ and how to treat God's people and their families.

Here are the ones worth remembering:

Pastor Sonny Misar is the Senior Pastor of Living Light Church in Winona, Minnesota. God saved me under his ministry in 1993. Through out the 1990's, I learned a lot of about Christian character and how a man treats his wife and children. I was able to participate with other young men to help him prepare his sermons with him. Here are his sermons.

Pastor David Johnson is the Senior Pastor of the Church of the Open Door in Maple Grove, Minnesota. I learned a lot from his expository sermons in the New Testament. For many years, I have listen to well over 300 hundred of his sermons from their library. I grew in my understanding of the bible. I do not agree with his egalitarian interpretation of women in the ministry. Here are his sermons.

Pastor Duane Sheriff is the Senior Pastor of Victory Life Church in Durant, Oklahoma. I learned about "walking in faith, not by sight", God's will/divine guidance and the use of Charismatic gifts. His ministry is very generous in giving out free sermons since the 1990s both in cassette tapes and cd's. My wife and I benefited from the food bank ministry when we were struggling financially after we were married. I do not agree with his Arminian interpretation of scripture, other than that, I still listen to his sermons today.

Pastor Rick Drury was the Pastor of Faith Assembly of God Church in Winona, Minnesota. He has relocated to Arizona a few years ago and pastors Blueridge Christian Center. I enjoyed his friendship and enjoyed working for the church in cleaning it up each week. I participated as home group leader and was tutored by him with a few other men in learning how to minister and teach. Here are his sermons.

Pastors Butch Smith is the Pastor of Living Hope Baptist Church - College Station. Living Hope had two church plants, Living Hope Baptist Church Bryan whom Allen Palermo leads and New Life Baptist Church which Allen Duty is the lead pastor. All three men has taught me Godly character through the last six years. They all have been supportive of my family as we experience grief and suffering in loss of my daughter and my wife's dad. We learned how to serve the body through leading the Hospitality Team and several hope groups. Here are the sermons for LHBC, LHBCB and NLBC.
